Through the programme, mentors can share their practical expertise in the blue biotech industry, helping start-ups and SMEs to shape and support the next generation of algae entrepreneurs. Mentors will also have the chance to connect with a global network of like-minded professionals, contributing to the growth and success of the blue economy industry. The Algae Accelerator programme compensates mentors for their support with a contribution of €10,000.

Participants of The Algae Accelerator gain access to BlueBioMatch, an online platform that connects startups, SMEs, researchers, and investors in the blue bioeconomy. It helps them find partners, explore collaborations, and expand their visibility within a growing community for sustainable algae innovation.
Who is eligible to apply?
Single startups or SMEs, or small consortia of them, established in the 27 EU Member States (including their outermost regions) or in Horizon Europe–associated countries as defined in the European Commission’s updated list. Solutions should typically be at TRL 3 or higher, aiming for market readiness.
What support does the programme offer?
Innovation vouchers worth up to €10,000 (non-direct financial support) for tailored mentorship from international experts, exclusive training and networking opportunities.
